This new version of SkyDemon includes some great improvements to the first release as well as some exciting new features. All customers get it free, and if you'd like to download a trial version just head over to the download page.

Air data, terrain data and chart management is made really easy in this new version. Instead of packaging UK and Ireland data with the download and expecting people to manually download and install data for other countries, there is now a Data Manager utility in the software. In the Data Manager you simply pick which countries you're interested in and all relevant data is downloaded and installed for you.

SkyDemon Plan gains detailed flight log viewing functionality where a vertical profile view of your log is displayed and you can inspect flight parameters at all stages. In addition, flight log import from Garmin/Magellan devices is now supported. We now allow export to RTE format (suitable for SkyMap IIIc) and to ICAO Flightplan format (for faxing or pasting into AFPEx or similar). The PLOG has now been made customisable, and this will be further enhanced in future versions. The main chart is now printable.

A new Sync tool has been created that automates the process of exporting your whole route library to SkyDemon InFlight. In addition it automatically imports all your flight logs, exports user waypoints and the latest NOTAMs and updates any data installed on the device if required.

There is now a dedicated installer utility for SkyDemon InFlight, which is installed on the PC as part of the SkyDemon package. This program can install SkyDemon InFlight over ActiveSync or directly to an SD card.

SkyDemon InFlight gains terrain rendering, both flat and relief shaded in north-up mode. Disk caching ensures that although this feature can be slow on some devices, once a piece of terrain has been rendered it is never rendered again. The trajectory arrow has been replaced with a configurable 2, 5 and 10 minute course projection. Approaching features has been enhanced to show a certain distance behind the aeroplane as well as in front.

As always this release has been driven by your feedback, and we'd like you to keep it coming.
