We've just posted the first beta of the forthcoming SkyDemon 1.4 release, which includes many new features and improvements. It's available to download from the Beta Downloads page. A summary of the changes is below.

We've introduced the ability to customise the chart look and feel, with options currently for US Sectional VFR charts and French VFR charts. This adapts the SkyDemon charts to use colouring and line styles similar to that of the selected charts, so that pilots familiar with one particular style of chart can view charts for all supported countries in that style.

User waypoints have been extended to include symbol and identifier attributes, and can be placed into categories in the new user waypoint manager. Groups of waypoints can be exported and shared with friends, using the standard GPX file format.

The fuel planning window has been replaced with a flight details window, which includes fuel but also allows you to set the planned date and time of the flight. This setting then improves automatic NOTAM filtering and the PLOG. Weight and balance functionality has been improved, with the landing weight now depicted on the graph alongside takeoff weight, and symbols showing the full fuel and empty fuel configurations.

Instrumentation has been improved, with the introduction of a plain-text track instrument, the ability to turn on and off any instrument and to switch track display between true and magnetic.

The in-flight functionality in SkyDemon Plan is now almost exactly like the interface of SkyDemon Mobile, including all instruments and menus. Sync via SD card is now supported alongside sync via ActiveSync. The ability to import flight logs from Garmin Aera devices has been added.
