SkyDemon Mobile Briefing Features

Although not designed as full-featured planning software, SkyDemon Mobile allows intuitive access to NOTAM, TAF and METAR briefing data and helps you to locate it.

NOTAM Briefing

A Narrow Route Briefing of NOTAM

If your device has its own internet connectivity, SkyDemon Mobile can obtain NOTAM directly for many of the countries we support in Europe. If it doesn't, not to worry: SkyDemon Plan loads the latest NOTAM briefing on to your device when you perform a sync operation before flight.

A narrow route briefing facility is available, which calculates which NOTAM are applicable to the route you have planned. The notices are then displayed in a list for easy reading, categorised by their relevance to your route plan. You can filter by the exact times of your flight to limit the number of NOTAM shown.

NOTAM on the Main Map with Warnings

NOTAM are depicted on both the main map and in the virtal radar instrument. We colour-code the NOTAM drawn in the maps so that while remaining visually distinct with their magenta fill, their edges quickly distinguish what kind of activity is being notified. Activation and deactivation of airspace, air shows, mass aircraft transits and gliding competitions are just some of the activities highlighted.

NOTAM warnings appear just like airspace warnings when your route would take you inside the notified area. A brief description of the subject, how far away it is and its time of operation are advised. A warning is only displayed if the NOTAM is active or is about to become active. Clicking on the information icon shows the full message.

TAF and METAR Briefing

A TAF and METAR Briefing for a Route

If your device has internet connectivity, TAF and METAR bulletins can be downloaded from any airfield in your charts that publishes such bulletins. When the weather briefing window is opened it suggests all airfields that are close to your route, but you can add as many airfields to the list to search as you like.

When a TAF or METAR is found for an airfield, this is shown on the display and clicking on the airfield displays the bulletin for you to read.

If your device can connect to the internet while airborne, the latest METAR for your destination airfield can be monitored in-flight.
