I have a Mio C520t and have tried to load SkyDemon but have failed!   One other member, using a Mio C320 suggested loading MioPocket on to the SD card first. I tried loading this but failed, I have visited http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=86952

The Mio C520 is listed by SkyDemon as a supported unit, the C520t has a docking tray with a traffic receiver in it, I assume it is the same, otherwise, to a C520. Any advice would be appreciated.Smile

hi Chris

I will try and help you. a)Where do you fail to install it?
b)and how do you start the installation?

1) figure out how you can access the Windows CE screen as the device normally starts directly the tomtom software.
there are several ways to do this - either by a button combination or by installing software similar to miopocket - however this
is a bit over the top for what you need.

2) Does your device have a memory card or a harddrive? If it is an SD card..take it out and plug it in
a card ready and install Skydemon directly on the SD card.

3) when you are able to open the file explore you can browse to the sd card and just start Skydemon. Alternativly you can link an icon in miopocket to the program.

Let me know the questions to a and b

Thanks for replying.

I can download the Skydemon software fine and load it on the SD card. The Mio C520t I have runs Miomap v3.3 not tom tom, but that dosn't matter. I have tried all sorts of tricks, hard resetting, soft reset, inserting the SD card in when the Mio is switched on, reformatting the SD card, using another SD card. I cannot find a way to get to Windows CE window. You mention there is other software available, other than Miopocket. If you could suggest one that would be great.

Thanks ChrisSmile

hi

you can try @skin universal unlock

but also miopocket lite. Give that a go. Might be the easier to accomplish your goal.

http://www.freewebs.com/miopocket-lite/

after that you can always look for another way.

Thanks for the help.

I think I may have sorted the problem, it looks like the SD cards, I have used are not recognised by the Mio. I have ordered a new one from 7dayshop, it should arrive in a day or three, will keep you updated with how I get on.

Well its like this!!! After trying 4 different SD cards I managed to find one that my Mio C520T likes, its an old SanDisk 2GB device which does not have any speed rating on it. I tried a similar SanDisk card, which had speed rating 2, this did not work!!!! A list of SD cards which are supposed to work can be found here http://sites.google.com/site/miodigiwalker/mioc710specs but I would treat the list with a pinch of salt! There is also another small problem, the Mio software does not run under Windows 7!!! I have an old computer which runs XP and its fine on this.

I have managed to get MioPocket Lite running on my Mio C520TBigGrin. I have copied skydemon mobile to the SD Card but I am unsure as to where it should be placed to make it run, in which folder or on the flash disk. (I can't get active sync to recognise the Mio, so that option is out!)  I also notice that I may need Microsoft .NET Compact Framework, if I do, where should this be placed? Then there is the charts what happens with them, I have selected, in chart manager, UK Charts but I am unclear as to what happens, I assume that these are added to Skydemon Mobile!!!Unsure

Any help gratefully received

I see this thread has gone quiet for a bit, did you succeed or give up? I read that mio pocket includes net compact framework in the files, but not sure about mio pocket lite.

I am about to start down this route for my satnav, a sony nv-u82. I gather the problem with this device & some others, is that although windowsCE is in there somewhere, it does not normally run. So, ways have to be devised to make it run.
