Hi, I am using both the plan and inflight system, and when I sync the two together (activesync) it says that it is syncing NOTAMS to the mobile device (amongst other things), my question is does that actualy sync the (route/all) NOTAMS to the device ?

When I look at the mobile device I can't see any NOTAMS, even with a route selected etc.

Could you please explain exactly how this function works to allow the inflight system to warn of any NOTAMS.

Many thanks, Steve

It puts all NOTAM that SkyDemon Plan knows about on the device. When the device next starts SkyDemon Mobile, all NOTAM are shown on the map and are available for warnings.

Hi Tim,

I can't get the NOTAM to display on my mobile device at all. The .xml file has been synced to the mobile device, I have checked that, but the NOTAM don't display on the map view (with or without a route being planned). Can you help, or am I missing something ?

Hi Steve

I can't think why that would be. If you plot a route on the device then go into the NOTAM briefing window, do you see any listed there?

Hi Tim,

Some testing this morning !

I planned a route (on the desktop PC) from Turweston to Leicester, this runs straight through the NOTAM for Husbands Bosworth gliding activity, as you can see on the screen capture attached this all works 100% on the desktop version of the software.

I then synced the mobile device (Binatone G500), after checking the G500 the notams.xml file is attached, this file is on the mobile device after the sync, after a search through the data the notam for Husbands Bosworth is clearly in there.

Then the last two pictures (taken with an iphone) are of the G500 with the route loaded, and the NOTAM breifing page as well.

Still nothing showing on the map !

Thanks, Steve

I don't have an explanation for it, but if you write to me directly, I'll sort you out with a build containing some debug information that should help us narrow it down.

Running a WinCE5 Navigo V2 4.3" PNA, & I can confirm & replicate the same problem.

I'm doing a (trial) route for tomorrow & the Boss is a stickler for detail   Shoreham to Southend & can confirm exactly the same result - No NOTAMs. Notams.xml dated 29/07/2010 is present in the SkyDemon folder.

No Notams showing but can get weather via the PC (both TAFs & METARs) to show on Skydemon Mobile

Regards,

Max

Thanks to Tim and his very fine support I can report that the problem is now resolved, I'm embarassed to say that the problem was all at my end.

The date/time was not correctly set on my mobile device and therefore the NOTAM were not displayed correctly.

I have since reset the date and time correctly and everything is now working 100%.

Thanks again to Tim.

NOTAMS & Navigon 8410

I confirm that I do get NOTAMs displayed on the map and also I do get the warnings if I fly close enough to one. All fine.

But if in SD Mobile, I go to the Briefing menu & click NOTAMS, there is nothing there in the WinCE window xpt ref to EGTT in far right of window. Clicking on this brings nothing up.

Actually get the same on Cheapo Chines 7" device running full WinCE6 R3.

Possibly true that I have no GPS fix at the time.

What should be happening?

Similar thing with TAFs  .. available as a yellow box by clicking on map but nothing via Briefing menu.

Again what is theoretical situation?

Cheers

D

The NOTAM window is a narrow route brief. If you don't have a route defined, you won't see any NOTAM. Also if SkyDemon Mobile hasn't loaded any NOTAM, you won't see any NOTAM. It loads then either from SkyDemon Plan after a sync operation or via the internet, if your device has internet connectivity itself.

TAF and METAR are obtained via the internet on demand. I think the documentation does cover usage of both these facilities.
