After the incursion by numerous gliders into a Red Arrows display area, I have been looking at how Sky Demon displays them, and also transits.
If you click on the notam in plan , then the route is shown as a red line. What would happen in flight? Would you get a warning?

SkyDemon Mobile doesn't make any attempt to interpret the transit NOTAM. Neither does plan, actually; but it does draw a line between any coordinates it finds since this is usually helpful. Until digital NOTAM are available such precise interpretation is impossible to do correctly, otherwise we'd love to present a warning if (for example) you got within a few miles of the transit route.

Hi Malcolm,
I tend to backup the use of skydemon (that doesnt plot all notam), with NotamPlot and more recently this presentation, which you may find handy:
http://ukairspace.appspot.com/static/UK_2day_WR_Notams.html
Theres also an iPhone / Android version.

Of course - officially theres the AIS site.Wink

Roll on digital notams.

Update: formation flights are now all drawn on the chart as lines; you no longer have to select the NOTAM. This applies on SkyDemon Mobile too. This is for illustrative purposes only; we don't build on our interpretation by presenting any warnings.

Red Arrows transits v useful.

But I do not seem to be able to see them.

If I go to UKGA.com I see that there are various Red Arrows transits shown for taday (Aug 30).

So made up a route that wd traverse these Red Arrows Transits.

Cd not see any lines on the map. What colour are they and do they have to be "turned on" under mapping menu?

Sorry if I am being thick.

Sorry, jumped the gun!!

Now works OK  .. discovered the time/date filter as transit was for Sep2  .. visible originally on SD PC but not on Mobile. Changed date filter to include sep2 and all OK.

However on mobile devices, the dotted, thinner formation transit line is not really distinguishable from a leg of a route.

Could we change it to another colour  .. bright red maybe?

What do others think?

Actually red may not be such a good idea  .. same as roads

Maybe exaggerate the dotted nature of the line.

Tim, am sure your wizards will come up with best idea.
