I have trouble communicating between Plan on a tablet PC and my Skymap IIIc.  The interface cable is the standard BendixKing 3 way serial which requires a serial to USB lead.  The port for the USB has been set to Com5.  The Preferences have been set accordingly.

On the Skymap the OUTPUT defaults to NONE, changing this to either option (NMEA, etc) results in a Sky Demon timeout.

Has any SD user managed to communicate to a Skymap IIIc and if so what are the right settings?

Skymap has firmware v1.22 with current dayabase.

John

Over the years I have tried mostly in vain to load routes onto SkyMap; mainly from navbox. Like you we ahd all the proper cables etc.

One thing I do recall is that if you use a PC with a genuine serial port, it seemed to work. With USB/Serial converter then it either half-worked or even said it had worked but when you looked for theroute file it was not there.

So you cd see if anyone locally has an old PC with original serial port.

Just a thought

From what I've gathered there is a lot of variation in the quality of the USB-to-serial devices out there. When we developed SkyDemon support for SkyMap I think we were using one, though.

I'm using a serial connection between a PC (XPpro) and a SkyMap IIIC.

I can export a route from SD Plan to the SkyMap (via Com1) but the whole route, including departure airfield and destination, with waypoints etc. appears on the SkyMap map display shifted about 8 miles NEast, with duplications of airfields, waypoints etc.

The SkyMap isn't receiving any live satellite data, and, come to think of it, is currently about 8 miles from Shoreham (where the SkyMap 'thinks' it last was. Is that the reason? I think I'm answering my own question....but that wouldn't account for the duplicate airfields etc. or would it?

Would appreciate any info.
