Hi Tim and all,

I tested SkyAngel since the very first available version and I'm absolutely speechless about this well thought out software for us pilots.

Since German NavData is not available for the public right now I'm willing to collect and maintain all these invaluable assets on a periodic basis.
I have access to the German AIP for regular updates of airspaces and other navdata. My Jeppview will be of importance as well to provide
the most accurate data possible.

Just let me know your thoughts how to proceed. If you know other reliable navdata sources please put them into this thread. Thanks.

Hi Michael

That would be great. We've got some basic German data that has been put together by another enthusiast out of the community-provided gliding data and some other database of waypoints and obstructions, but it's not ready for publication. If you have official data that you can work with, that's the best option of all.

If you need any help getting started with putting some SkyAngel data together, give me a shout, but otherwise just go ahead. When you've got a good collection together you can send it to me and I'll get it compiled into a .skydata file along with German roads, railways, towns etc.

I'll mention this thread to the guy who's previously put some data together for Germany and perhaps you could help each other out.

Hi Michael Dannemann,

I´m the one who realise a little database for Germany to test it with skyangel inflight.
Tim converted that into a .skydata file for me. Thanks to Tim.

It works on the screen but the program makes till now little problems with the gps positioning on my HP 314.
If I solve this problem I can tell you more.

I havn´t an AIP Germany. So it was not possible for me to generate a database as exactly as it had to be.

I can announce that alongside tomorrow's release we'll be posting full Germany data for people to use.

Hello there
I am also from Germany and thus very keen that the Ger Nav Data is complete. Where did you guys get the data from?
Aerosoft brought out photorealistic scenery for FSX and I am sure they got all the right coordinates for obstacles etc together. Could this data not be extracted and used?

I have asked the supplier of the German AIP and you can buy a license of the AIP and can then download the obstruction as an XML file. This you can convert and upload into Skydemon.

The anual license costs 89-99Eur and contains currently 2800 obstructions. However I am not sure how much it will cost for Tim to buy and redistribute this. I have spoken to customer-support@dfs.de and also received a sample XML file of the obstructions if you are interessted in that.

Unfortunately the license agreement for companies like SkyDemon is different and DFS want a fee per license sold. SkyDemon is low-cost software because it's for VFR only, and we therefore cannot afford to pay the German authorities money every time we sell a SkyDemon license.

Update: I've sent an email to our contacts at DFS to see if the licensing arrangements have changed at all since our last enquiry.

yeah let me know how you are getting on.
otherwise i can only get the data and post it online in the forum for other people to download it. The sample data looks like it will need coordinate conversation so it fits in the format you use for custom waypoints

The response was that the licensing arrangements have not changed. We can therefore not supply a SkyDemon chart without charging for it (which would be around €10 per year).

So far we've managed to stay away from charging for individual charts, but in this sort of case it may be unavoidable.

hi
well maybe you make this optional? I certainly would not mind paying a tenner..as this is cheaper than what I can buy it for.
